House of Virgin Mary in Ephesus, Turkey is a shrine located on Mount Koressos, also know as "Mount Nightingale", located seven kilometres from Selçuk city nearby Ephesus. House is on the peak of a hill and surroundered by beautiful green flora which gives perfect serenity and peace to it's visitors. House was discovered in the 19th century by following the directions in the reported visions of Anne Catherine Emmerich, a Catholic nun and visionary, which were published as a book after her death. It is believed that Virgin Mary came to Ephesus after Jesus Christ's resurrection and united with Saint John in Ephesus. Virgin Mary spreaded Christianity around Ephesus for several years before she went back to Jerussalem. Experts examined the house and confirmed that House of the Virgin we see today dates from the 6th or 7th century but its foundations are much older than the house and date back to first century AD, which is the time of Mary. The shrine is still run by the Fathers, who celebrate Mass here every day. People celebrate the Feast of the Assumption of Mary every year on August 15 at the house of Virgin Mary. The spring that runs under the Virgin's House is believed to have healing powers and still can be drank by visitor. Also the traditional wishing wall covered with thousands of white paper pieces with the wishes written on them is a must to see.
